"Ceil and I grew up together in the same 6-family apartment family building in Springfield, Mass. after I moved next door when I was about 8 years old. . She was my best friend for some 80 years. We always kept in touch though life often took us far away from each other. I remember her as a quiet, lonely little girl, a good student who always got good grades and always wanted to be a nurse. We communicated with each other after bed time by talking through a transom between our apartments.. . When we were teenagers, we traveled together to New York City, staying at my aunt's house inm Brooklynmy aunt's hous in Brooklyn my Aunt's house in Brooklyn. It was then that Ceil decided to do her nurse's training in New York. Life took us in different directions after high school. I moved to Iowa to attend college; Ceil moved to New York to study nursing at one of the finest nursing schools in the Northeast. She married John Ames, a wonderful singer who once did a stint in a Broadway musicalmu."
