Lenora Word went to eternal rest May 12, 2018 in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Lenora was a lifelong resident of Lynchburg, Moore County, Tennessee and was educated in the Moore County School System.
Lenora was born August 17, 1970 to the late Mary Lee Word. She was a grand-daughter of the late James E. Shelton and Maggie Lou (Eady) Shelton.
As a part-time employee at Motlow State Community College, Lenora was actively involved in the girls' softball and basketball program. Her love for the softball program was shown through her assistance in the preparedness of the team and travelling with the team. The Motlow Green and Gold colors were her favorite.
Preceded in death by sister, Beverly Ann Word, Lenora leaves to cherish her memory, brothers, Richard Word and Curtis Word, both of Nashville; father, Jesse Rodgers of Fayetteville; aunts, Ella Mae (Willie L) Rippy of Shelbyville, TN, Roberta (Harvey) Cannon of Lansing, MI, and Ealon L (Coleman) March of Lynchburg, TN; great uncle, Claude (Dorothy) Eady; great aunts, Lillie V. Henderson of Lynchburg, Ruby Trollinger of Shelbyville, TN, and Joyce A. Eady of Fayetteville,TN; devoted cousins, Donnie Shelton of Lynchburg, Nancy King and Minnie Henderson of Lynchburg, and Sikitia Allen of Murfreesboro; devoted friends, Jason Conn and Natalie Taylor Maxwell, both of Lynchburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be from 3-7 pm Wednesday, May 16, 2018 and 1-2 pm Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm on Thursday in the Jennings-Moore-Cortner Chapel. Interment will be at Highview Cemetery. A Service of Remembrance for Lenora will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 18, 2018 in the gymnasium of Motlow State Community College, Moore County Campus.
