The best thing I can remember about him is that he was a walking computer for vehicles. If you had a problem with any vehicle, he had the answer! He cared about everyone. Robert "Rob" M. Saltzman, 66, of Ponca, NE passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at his residence.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca with Rev. Dennis Ritchey officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca.
Rob was born on November 26, 1951 in Sioux City, IA, the son of John and Joyce (Winne) Saltzman. He graduated in 1971 from Crosby-Ironton High School in Crosby, MN, and received his associates degree in welding from Brainerd Tech. College in Brainerd, MN. Robert married Linda Rono on August 5, 1972 in Brainerd, MN. Rob and Linda moved to Hubbard, NE, then Ponca, NE in 1976. He worked at Sioux City Foundry in South Sioux City, NE from 1974 to 1994, then State Steel in Sioux City, IA until 2005, when he retired due to health reasons.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, woodworking and working on cars.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Saltzman; son, James Saltzman; special daughter, Christine (Jesse) Dreger; grandsons, Kylen, James "Jo", Kayden, Skyler and Aiden; granddaughters, Harllie, Caralynn, Odessa, Iverie and Samarah; a sister, Christina Echelbarger; sisters-in-law, Dee Saltzman, Nancy (Roberto) Perez, and Caroline (Daniel) Warren; brothers-in-law, Harold (Carol) Rono and Lester Rono; and many nieces and nephews.
