Joseph J. Bulanek, 92, of Marshalltown, IA, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at State Center Specialty Care in State Center, IA. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Homes, 405 West Main Street, Marshalltown. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Joe was born on March 22, 1926, in Marshalltown, to James and Helen (Musil) Bulanek. He graduated from St. Mary's School in 1944. Joe was a typist in the United States Army during World War II from June 1944 to April 1946. After his release from the military, he worked as a custodian for the U.S. Post Office for many years. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Marshalltown.

Joe is survived by four sisters: Ruth Needham of Marshalltown, Evelyn Talbert of Lakewood, CA, Veronica Jay of Marshalltown, and Bernadette (Frank) Overman of Council Bluffs, IA; and a brother, Bernard Bulanek of Milwaukee, WI. Joe is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Helen, and six siblings: Harold, Catherine, Josephine, Leo, Dorothy, and Lawrence.
