Patricia A. "Pat" Mettler, 81, of Maquoketa, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa.
A natural journey farewell with cremation has taken place. A private burial will be held at a later date from the Bethesda Cemetery, Hillsdale, Illinois. The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
Patricia Anne Smith was born on May 28, 1936 in Kewanee, Illinois, to Harley and Lucille (DeWolfe) Smith. She was educated in Altona, Illinois at Victoria and Rova High School. She married Walter Mettler on February 4, 1956 in Victoria, Illinois.
Pat was a homemaker and through the years she and Walter had lived in Galesburg, Illinois, Erie, Illinois, Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, Clinton, Iowa, and lastly Maquoketa. She enjoyed reading and was an avid golfer.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Walter Mettler of Maquoketa, IA; children, Randy (Annette) Smith of Galva, IL, Debra (Randy) Arnold of Saratoga, WY, Wally, Jr. (Michelle) Mettler of Horseshoe Bend, AK, Sharon Newsome of Fenton, IL, and Eric (Lori) Mettler of Davenport, IA; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sandy Bennett of Saratoga, WY. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bud Smith, sisters Carol Hines and Grace Bloom, and a son-in-law Dave Newsome.
