Edward Robert Prause
March 29, 1923 - May 24, 2018

Edward Robert Prause, 95, of Hampton, Iowa, went to Heaven on Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. He was born on March 29, 1923, north of Dumont, to Edward John and Anna (Hauer) Prause.

Ed attended Aredale, Dumont and Hansell Schools. He entered the United States Marine Corps on February 26, 1943 and fought in the South Pacific during World War II. Ed was discharged on February 3, 1946, at Great Lakes, Illinois.

Ed fell in love and married Leola Cutler on March 6, 1946. They were married seventy-two glorious years.

He worked at Ferris Nursery and did construction work before farming for twenty-five years. Ed and Leola stopped farming and moved to Hampton in 1975. He worked at Park School, Seabee Corp and Hampton Distributing before retiring.

Ed was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great great-grandfather. He gave his life to Jesus Christ his Lord and Saviour and was Baptized. Ed passed on to his family his devout Christian values. He enjoyed reading the Bible, attending Bible Studies and Church. Ed served as an usher at Faith Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Dumont Legion Post 360.

Ed is survived by his wife Leola, children Larry (Doris) Prause, Jo (Gerald) Craig, Jan (Ron) Scally and Janis (Bruce) Theis, twenty-three grandchildren, forty-six great-grandchildren, twenty great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents Edward John and Anna Prause, in-laws Marie and Clarence, brother Robert, sisters Anna, Marie and Helen, brother-in-law Edwin, grandsons Clarence, John and Don, granddaughter Sarah and great-grandson Colin.
