Gordon "Gordy" Kramer, 94, of Elcho, died Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. He was born on April 17, 1924, in Elcho, a son of the late Jack and Lillian (Jensen) Kramer.
After graduating from Elcho High School Gordy enlisted in the United States Army. He was a proud World War II veteran who served from 1943 to 1946 in Germany. Upon returning home he trained as an electrician at Coin Electric Company in Chicago.
On June 25, 1949, he married the former Carol Schoneck. The couple celebrated 65 years of marriage before Carol died on September 17, 2014. Their married life was spent in Elcho where Gordy was employed as head custodian for the Elcho School District.
Gordy was a member of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377 in Elcho.
He loved hunting and fishing and was a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan.
Survivors include three children, Karen Kramer of Appleton, Randy (Mary) Kramer of Elcho, and Kay (Andy) Barge of Plover; four grandchildren, Kate (Nick) Deutsch of Portland, OR, Allison Barge of Stevens Point, Aren (Melissa) Barge of Boynton Beach, FL and Andrea Barge of Wisconsin Rapids; three great-grandchildren, Greyson Deutsch, Aidan and Emma Barge; a brother, Donald Kramer of Yuma, AZ.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jack Kramer; a sister, Verneil Brandow; and a brother, Robert Kramer.
A private military graveside service will be held at the Elcho Cemetery.
Bradley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
