Dr. Joel Drews

Dr. Joel E. Drews, 75, of Clinton passed away Friday, June 1, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center - Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm, Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church - Clinton. Visitation will be from 12:30 pm until the service hour at the funeral on Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers will be Joel's grandchildren, his son-in-law Shane and God son Thomas Petersen. Joel Edmund Drews was born February 8, 1943 in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Melvin Henry and Marian (Healless) Drews. He was a 1961 graduate of Clinton High School. He attended Jr. College in Winfield, Kansas and went on to get Bachelor's Degree in Animal Nutrition and Master's Degree in Animal Science and Statistics both from Iowa State University. He earned his Doctorate Degree from the University of Kentucky with a main focus of study on Swine Nutrition. He married the love of his life Patricia Ellen Milroy on February 10, 1980; she preceded him in death on April 17, 1997.

Joel worked as an animal nutritionist for Wayne Feed and Allied Mills during his career creating different formulas for animal food. He had a love for education and animals and enjoyed fishing and cooking. His family will always remember his awesome pork chops that he made at Christmas time. He had a great laugh and sense of humor, he was loving, supportive and always wanted the best for his family. He was a calm, level headed man who always encouraged his children to be successful.

He is survived by his three daughters: Jennifer (Peter) Zaccariello of South Elgin, Illinois, Colleen (James) Garrison out of Texas and Rebecca (Shane) Zachary of Clinton; grandchildren: Jordan, Joey and Jake Zaccariello and Dylan and Brandon Garrison; siblings: Dennis (Charlene) Drews of Elk River, Minnesota, Judy Drews of Birmingham, Alabama, Barbara (Steve Norby) Drews of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Nancy (Pete) Petersen of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Joel was preceded in death by his parent and grandparents.
