In loving memory of

Susan Nancy DeRosa
February 16, 1958 - June 3, 2018

Mrs. Susan DeRosa, age 60, passed away on Sunday, June 3rd at Westchester County Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer. Susan was born in Yonkers, NY to Edward and Barbara Budrock on February 16, 1958 and grew up in Monsey.

She attended Seton Hall University and Ramapo College where she majored in education, and later attended SUNY New Paltz where she completed her Masters Degree in Special Education. She worked as a special education teacher for many years, most recently at the Children's Annex of Kingston, also known as the Center for Spectrum Services. She was an expert knitter and pattern designer, who loved to teach people how to knit.

Susan married Alan DeRosa -- her best friend and the love of her life -- 37 years ago on Valentine's Day. They lived for a short time in Douglasville, Georgia where they started a family. After moving to New Paltz, NY they bought a home in Bloomington, NY which would be their home for nearly three decades.

A dedicated Mother, Susan is survived by her husband and five children including Katie and James Luterek of Cary, NC; Danny & Chrissy DeRosa of Douglasville, PA; Keri DeRosa of Boston, MA; Alix & Cris Affininito of Schenectady, NY; and Emma DeRosa of Kingston, NY. She relished being a grandmother and spent much of her time endlessly doting on her two grandchildren, Avery DeRosa (3) and Sydney DeRosa (1). She is also survived by her parents Barbara and Frank Horan of Seven Lakes, NC, two siblings, nine nieces and two nephews.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 7th from 5PM to 8PM at Keyser Funeral Home, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston NY. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made in Susan's Memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (www.jrdf.org) In addition, the family is asking that friends and relatives who love to knit contribute one or more knitted items to "Knots of Love" an organization that distributes hand-knit caps to cancer patients struggling with treatment-induced hair loss. "To Dr. Derosa and Family, We were so sad to hear about the passing of Mrs. Derosa. I remember going to my nephew RYan's baseball games which your son also played on and Mrs. Derosa would be at the games watching and knitting away. Such a sweet woman. May God bless you all. Ron and Karen MaddenDreiser. "

"To the family and friends, I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. Job 14:15 says: "You (God)will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning." Yes, God longs to bring our loved ones back to life again! It is not like they will be gone forever. There will be a resurrection as you can read at Acts 24:15. In the mean time, we can have comfort in taking in knowledge of the Bible, which contains God's future purpose for the earth and people on it. If would like free Bible studies you may ask any one of Jehovah's Witnesses to make arrangements."

Emma was there for me when my father passed, and when my wife and I lost our baby during pregnancy, Emma was there for us , giving us a ride to that sorrowful hospital appointment.
