Oscar "J.R." Bradford Jr
February 4, 1935 - June 8, 2018

Oscar "J.R." Bradford Jr, age 83 of Decherd, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. A native of Franklin County, he was born on February 4, 1935 in Winchester to the late Oscar and Pauline Bradford, and he continued to live in Franklin County for his entire life. During the 1960's, J.R. was a volunteer fireman and worked for the City of Decherd before becoming self-employed as a roofing contractor. J.R. enjoyed attending Keith Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed coaching softball, hunting, and fishing and was a devout Alabama Fan. J.R. will be remembered as a loving family man...he loved his wife, son and daughter-in-law, and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Joe Bradford; and sister, Judy Zimmerman. J.R. is survived by his wife, Ruth Bradford; son, Ricky (Melanie) Bradford; grandsons, Cody Bradford and Chance Bradford; great-grandchildren, Keagan Dugas, Sadie Bradford, and Remington Bradford; and special friends, Tammy Kelly, Morgan Nelms, and Rachel Naegele. Visitation will be from 12-2 pm on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 pm in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Johnny Ray Bradford officiating. Interment will be at Mt.Garner Cemetery in Decherd with Tim Solomon, Gary Bradford, Tony Bradford, Terry Carroll, Randy Majors, and Randy Kelly serving as pallbearers. "J.R. was my best friend and also my cousin. He?s was a kind man and we sure had lots of good times fishing and hunting. And sitting and talking . He was a people person he loved talking to others . And would help anyone in need . All the kids looked up to jr when we were little . Sure help me many times with things . I am going to miss you jr . God bless you and Ruth , and Ricky and your family . You will always be in my heart. For your kindness and caring for others ."
