"Bonney knocked on my door in the early 90?s and shared many bible lessons with me and my children. She taught me so much and was a wonderful example for Jehovah. I was sad when she moved away and have missed her dearly. Today, I decided to find her to reconnect and this is where my search led me. I will always remember Bonney fondly. Bonney K. Hadar, 68, of Humboldt died Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 3 p.m. on Saturday June 23. There will be a visitation Friday, June 22 at the Laufersweiler - Sievers Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m.
The oldest of five children, Bonney Katherine Lee was born June 13, 1949 to Rollin and Katherine Lee near Sacramento, California. The family later moved to San Francisco and Bonney was a 1967 graduate of Mira Loma High School. She received a bachelor's degree in Classical History from the University of California at San Diego in 1971. In 1974 she moved to Iowa City, Iowa with her ex-husband and their daughter.
At that time she became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and began engaging in the door-to-door ministry on a volunteer basis. In September of 1984 she began volunteering in the ministry on a full-time basis. She faithfully continued that ministry for the rest of her life.
While in Iowa City she also worked as Office Manager for Dr. Howard K. Linn, a dentist, in Riverside, Iowa until 1987.
In 1979 she married Jim Hadar of Iowa City. The couple lived in Iowa City and Coralville until moving to Humboldt in 1997 where Jim worked as a computer programmer for the family business until retiring in 2016. The couple also served as volunteers with the Fort Dodge Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses from 1997-99, and the Algona Congregation since 1999.
Beginning in 1992, the couple also volunteered to work with the Regional Building Committee of Jehovah's Witnesses, sharing in building Kingdom Halls in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin. Bonney worked for several years with the Landscaping Crew and later on, helped the Accounting Crew.
Bonney is survived by her husband, Jim, of Humboldt; her daughter, Persephone (Douglas) Nerge of Grayslake, Illinois, and grandchildren Andromeda and Orion; sisters, Anne Grucza of Orono, Maine, Deborah (Doug) Peyret of Yuba City, California, and Cindy (Joe) Randall of Grass Valley, Calif, one brother, Rick Lee of Nevada City, Calif. and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She and her family were lovingly assisted in her final days by the nurses and volunteers of Unity Point Hospice in Fort Dodge.
Bonney will be remembered for her love of people, her generosity, and her volunteer spirit. She also had a love for God's creation. She was an avid bird watcher, a gardener and a traveler. She never tired of reading and learning.

"What we remember about Bonny are the many days we spent in the ministry together. She always had so many people she called on regularly. She also knew the thrift stores in their territory where we also had Bible discussions. Bonny was extremely hot blooded. In the deepest cold she?d leave the heat low in the car. I asked her once if we could have a little more heat. ?Sure! For a couple minutes?! LOL! She was one tough cookie. The four of us went to east Iowa, NW of Manchester where we traveled in the remotest parts of country roads that were truly dirt, with green grass grew in center of our adventures. We loved the picnic together along with Natasha, their cocker spaniel. It was such a delightful time with Jim & Bonny. She?s resting now from her long illness. We can imagine she?ll wake up with birds chirping around her, and a host of puppies licking her face. Jim, there will probably be another wedding for you two. "
