In loving memory of

Lorene J. Hargrove
October 17, 1929 - June 10, 2018

Lorene J. Hargrove, age 88 of Estill Springs, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. She was born on October 17, 1929 in Decherd to the late Homer and Janie Dudley. A loving mother and grandmother, Lorene is fondly remembered for her undying love to any and all. Whoever would stop by could always count on her warm hospitality and good food! She proved herself a loyal wife with much self-sacrificing care for her husband Eugene until he preceded her in death in 2002.

Born and raised in Decherd, having lived in Sewanee, and other areas of Tennessee, and for a short while in Georgia and California, she was right back at home in Estill Springs for the last 34 years. She loved to explore the world and educated herself through the pages of many books and references. Known as "grandma" by most, our mother will be greatly missed.

Her favorite scripture: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people... And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore."--Revelation 21:3, 4 (NWT) Although sleeping in death now, she had strong hope in our Creator and Life-giver, Jehovah God, and his promise of the resurrection. (John 11:11-15, 25, 43, 44)

In addition to her parents and husband, Lorene is preceded in death by her sisters, Irene and Jewell; brothers, R.V. and Homer Jr; sons, Eugene Jr and Jerry DeWayne; and grandson, Rocky Sabo. Lorene is survived by 4 of her children: Gayla Hargrove, Linda Sabo, Ruthie Anderson, and Eugene Hargrove; brother, Ed Dudley; as well as ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be on Wednesday June 13, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Lorene's memorial service will be held in the Moore-Cortner Chapel on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at the Gatlin Cemetery, in Ardmore, Alabama. "Please accept my heartfelt sympathy. I didn't know your loved one. But know that our heavenly Father Jehovah God will remember our love one. The Bible says: "Throw your burden upon God, and he himself will sustain you. He heals the brokenhearted, ànd He binds up our wounds, He assures us. Psalm147:3."
