"Virginia, Shirley, Jerry & Paige, My sincere condolence, we have all lost a wonderful person. Jo was my dearest friend from the time we moved to Farragut in 1949 and met the Spurgeon sisters. We became like a family in the Campbell apartment building, with two "moms" to mother us, as both our fathers had traveling jobs & were not home that much. Jo & I were in the same class (1954) and Virginia & Dolores (& Leo) were in the same class (1952) at Farragut High School. Beverly was a year behind Jo & me & Shirley Sue was about 4 years behind us. She was the baby & we all spoiled her because she was so cute & fun. It was a very sad day when the Booker family moved away from Farragut, never to return again to live. We kept in touch over the years but life got in the way and we grew apart. I will never forget those wonderful years in Farragut & the "sisters of our hearts" the Spurgeon girls & Mom Freeland. Joanna Fern Androy, 82, of Shenandoah passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Accura Healthcare in Stanton, Iowa.
Joanna was born on January 13, 1936 in Dawson, MO, the daughter of Wayne and Freeland (Scaggs) Spurgeon. She was one of three daughters. She grew up in Dawson then moved to Farragut with her family in 1945. She graduated from Farragut High School with the Class of 1954.
On October 12, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jimmie Androy. Their son, Joseph Wayne was adopted on March 1, 1965, followed by Jerry Lee on October 3, 1967. The family made their home in Shenandoah.
Joanna was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was an avid painter and loved gardening. She volunteered with the Shenandoah Garden Club for years. She enoyed spending her summers at Big Lake in Missouri with her family - water skiing, teaching other to water ski, riding on the pontoon, and painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Jimmie Androy), her son (Joseph Androy), and her parents (Wayne and Freeland Spurgeon). Those left to honor her memory include her son (Jerry Androy), her granddaughter (Paige Androy), and her sisters (Shirley Koch and Virginia Dennis).
The family will be having a Celebration of Life Gathering at the Waubonsie Room located in the Greater Shenandoah Historical Society Building from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018. This will be a time of refreshment and fellowship.

We have kept in close touch by phone since I moved away. Joanna and I did so many things together especially going to circle meetings, setting up the dining area for our annual Chicken Noodle dinner at our Church for years. Going to ceramics once a week. Plus dropping -in at each others home only for a quick chat sometimes. But, she and your Dad had our family down to their cabin at Big Lake for many fun weekends. Joanna was an excellent water skier. She beat cancer several times when you and brother Joe were very young. I remember she told me one time, "I want to live long enough to get my two boys raised to young men". She surpassed that wish.
