In loving memory of

Phillip Morris Greene

Phillip Morris Greene was born on a farm in Maury County Tennessee, the fourth child of seven children born to share croppers, Willie Mae and Philmore Greene. He attended the local two room school until the fifth grade when his family moved to Indianapolis, Indiana at the urging of his grand Mother, Caroline (Mama Carolyn) where he completed elementary and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1960. He was drafted into the US Army in 1963 and served honorably at his primary station in Germany and was discharged in 1965.

After military service there were struggles finding meaningful employment but he was finally hired at the Allison division of General Motors and continued with its subsequent owners, the Rolls Royce Corporation. He retired after about 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Philmore (Pete) Greene and Willie Mae Greene; brothers, Willie Gene Greene of Indianapolis and Bernis Harlan Greene; and sister, Yvonne Emerson of Denver, Colorado.

He leaves to mourn surviving siblings, Jessie Lene Syrie, Denver, Colorado, Carlton Cornelius Greene, MD, of Baltimore, Maryland, and Carolyn Jennette Harden of Denver, Colorado along with a host of nieces and nephews and innumerable friends.

Tributes

Reggie Greene wrote on Jun 15, 2018:

"The news of Phillips death is something very difficult for me to come to terms with as it is for you. What a remarkable guy who was never without a smile. Phillip was a natural at making us all better people. Even though it has been years since I last saw him his portait and warm smile brought me to tears. I miss my dear cousin! Reggie"
