Wiley "Gus" Doty
March 11, 1934 - June 17, 2018

Wiley Gustave "Gus" Doty, 84, of Oakdale, Minnesota, passed away, Sunday, June 17, 2018.

Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23 at Hoff Funeral and Cremation in St. Charles, Minnesota followed by a service of remembrance at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles followed by a reception at the funeral home.

Gus was born March 11, 1934 on his maternal grandparent's farm located between Chatfield and Dover, Minnesota to Wiley and Josephine (Schwoch) Doty. He graduated from Dover High School in 1952. He attended Winona State College on a full athletic scholarship and graduated with Speech and Math majors in 1957. He went on to earn his Master's Degree in Speech Education also from Winona State College. He married the former Marlene Volkman in 1957. Gus went on to teach Math at Anoka High School and eventually transitioned into the Real Estate business in Fridley. He was active in the Rotary Club serving as Club President of the Rotary Club of Fridley, Columbia Heights, 1984-1985 and Rotary #5960 District Governor 1988-1989. Gus was a Mason. He had a passion for Bridge and he was an avid coin collector. As a youth he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

He leaves behind his loving family, Children: Tami (Michael) Holsten, Doug Doty, Darcie (Shawn) Grim, Denise Doty; Grandchildren: Jake (Kristen), Luke (Rachel) Holsten, Rachel Doty, Brennan Klover, Adam (Chelsey) Klover, Spencer Klover, Isaiah Grim; Great-grandchildren: Kajsa Holsten, Tobias Klover; Sisters: Vivian Niven of San Antonio, Texas, Ruth Lovejoy of Jesup, Georgia, and Nettie Bell of Zumbrota, Minnesota; sisters-in-law: Lois Doty and JoAnne Doty of Rochester; Charlene Ryan of Chandler, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Jo Lockhart of St. Paul and Eunice Hoffman of Kelliher, Minnesota, brothers, Gordon Doty of Iowa, Norman Doty and David Doty of Rochester.
