"Every sale day for me began and ended with a word from Doug. He would always start the day letting me know that the scale was ready. As the last consignment of the day came into the ring, Doug would announce, ?Fill your load? to let us know we had reached the end. After that he would come into the sale ring and ask if everything had been checked off. He took his job very seriously. We communicated throughout the sale: he understood the necessity of a balanced scale, the importance of correct weights, and we worked together to be sure things were done properly. I couldn?t see him, but I could hear everything he said. Doug was often on hand to help me unload or load livestock, too. He always had a comment to make about the vehicle I was loading things into, it made him smile. During the cold days of winter, Doug would be sure to put a tarp up across the front of the sale block after the sale was over, and keep the heater running, so that the computers would not freeze. He was kind and considerate. I enjoyed working with him and will really miss him. Claudia Putnam "
