Erna Luise Wilhelmine (Schoemann) Heyde, 93, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. She was born on June 20, 1925, in Itzenhain, Germany, to Konrad and Lina (Geitz) Schoemann.
Erna came to the United States in 1951. She was united in marriage to Reinhold Max Heyde on April 5, 1952, in Nashua, Iowa in the Little Brown Church. Erna was a loving mother and farmwife. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and reading. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hampton for over 60 years.
Erna is survived by her brother Egon Schoemann of Alsfeld, Germany, a daughter Linda Harding of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, son Werner Heyde of Waterloo, son Reinhold Heyde, Jr. of Hampton, son Dr. Raymond (Gloria) Heyde of Peoria, Illinois, daughter Carolyn Heyde of Aurora, Colorado, son Dietrich (Linda) Heyde of Traverse City, Michigan and daughter Maria (Matt Sopcich) Heyde of Highlands Ranch, Colorado. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and their families who reside in Germany.
Erna was preceded in death by her parents Konrad and Lina, husband Reinhold, brother Christian and son Milton.
