In loving memory of

Jan Elaine Hardy
November 27, 1959 - June 30, 2018

Jan Elaine Hardy,

Indianapolis -
Jan Elaine Hardy, 58, departed this life on June 30, 2018. Jan was born November 27, 1959 in Washington, Indiana to the late Dale and Dorothy (Miles) Hardy. She was a 1978 graduate of Pike High School and 1982 graduate of Ball State University earning a Bachelor's of Science degree in secondary education. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority and an avid sports fan. Professionally, Jan worked as a staffing manager where she was dedicated to guiding and supporting whoever needed assistance in securing employment.

Her devotion to her family and friends was quite obvious on the weekends. She could always be found hanging out, having fun and making memories. She had a giving spirit using her time to help out a friend in need, attending special events, sharing in others joy, as well as spoiling her niece and nehew, just to name a few.

She is survived by her dear brother, Evan (LeAnn) Hardy, her adoring niece, Amanda (Grant) Galloway and her loving nephew, Aaron Hardy, as well as a host of grateful and caring friends, whom she considered her extended family. Jan found joy in her friends and family. She would want you to take the time to be with your family and friends and make a toast to enduring lifelong friendships.

A Celebration of Jan's Life will be Saturday, July 7 at Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel with visitation from 2:00 - 4:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jan's memory may be made to the Pike Education Foundation, 6901 Zionsville Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46268.

"I'm shocked and devastated at finding the news today of Jan's passing. I've known Jan since high school (she was in my younger brother's class). I then worked with Jan at both Manpower and Kelly services. We had kept in touch over the years. Jan and I had the type of friendship where we just checked in on each other from time to time. Sometimes it would be a couple of months before we would call each other to catch up. I hadn't heard from Jan for awhile, so I called her tonight. I got a message saying that her phone had been disconnected. I was dumbfounded. I then tried to see if I could somehow find her online and that's when I found her obituary. I'm still in shock. My condolences to her family. I know she missed them because they had left the state recently. This news is just absolutely heartbreaking. I will miss our chats. Jan was so connected to people and always had news on people we both knew. Rest in Peace my friend."

"I'm so saddened by this news. Jan was a great lady. Always full of life and had lots of fun along the way. I met Jan right out of college when we both worked at Indiana National Bank in the Corporate Lending area. Over the years, I have ran into her and we seemed to pick up right where we left off each time. Evan - my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know she cared deeply for her family. She will be missed."

"I have known Jan close to 30 years. In those years she was true to who she was - fiercely loyal, determined, funny, smart, passionate, dedicated, deeply caring, the best friend you could ever ask for and a loving family member. I send white light for strength to Jan's family and her circle of friends - all of who will miss her presence in their lives but carry her always in their hearts. Jan was so full of life and spirit and today I will celebrate that life and how she touched mine. Karin Gorman "
