Mamie Boyd
July 6, 1929 - July 1, 2018

Mamie Marie Boyd was born on July 6, 1929 to Myrtle Gulliford and David French in Marion, Indiana. Marie, as she loved to be called, moved to Indianapolis as a child and attended school 40 and 17. Marie graduated from Crispus Attucks in 1947.

Mamie attended and was baptized at Corinthian Baptist Church.

In 1950 Marie married Hollie Boyd Sr. and to this union five children were born.

Marie was employed at General Dye for many years, Mechanics Laundry for 16 years and RCA for five years before retiring from the United States Postal Service in 1992 after 20 years.

Marie loved working jigsaw puzzles, especially large ones, traveling the world, watching game shows and sports with a passion for basketball. Marie's favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters Ethel Wright and Hazel Bishop. Marie's memory will be lovingly cherished by her fellow Golden Girl and beloved sister Eunice Dickerson; her children Hollie (Juliette) Boyd Jr., James Boyd, Henry Boyd Sr., Archie Boyd and Michelle Boyd; her grandchildren Antonio Boyd, Henry Boyd Jr., Leslie Boyd, Karlissa Boyd, Quenton Boyd, LeKesha Boyd, Kelsey Boyd, Shanequa Boyd, Isiah Boyd and Blake Boyd; great-grandchildren Jalen Boyd, Kennedy Boyd, Marvin Fennell, Saniyah Boyd, Serenity Wilson, Chase Boyd, Markus Fennell, SaMya Boyd, Jeremiah Ford and Londyn Eichelberger; great-great grandchild Avery Boyd; Golden Girl Ruthella Johnson; and a host of family and friends.
