Hazel Lena Weatherman Koehler was born February 25, 1920, to Luther and Tina (Frazier) Weatherman in Iowa Falls, IA. She attended school in Steamboat Rock, IA, and graduated in 1939. Hazel was a member of the Conrad American Legion Auxiliary and attended the First Presbyterian Church in Conrad. She has always enjoyed being on the go, visiting with friends and being involved with her family. Hazel loved music and was always ready to dance at the drop of a hat. Hazel was united in marriage to Keith Koehler on December 21, 1940. In their early married years, Keith and Hazel lived at different locations in Central Iowa, eventually settling in Conrad. In 1950, they opened the Mobile Gas Service Station in Conrad on the Southeast corner of Main and Center Streets. Six years later, they sold the station and ventured into the restaurant business, opening Koehler's Grill on Main Street between the Franzenburg Market and the Conrad Record building. The restaurant business kept them busy for the next twenty years. In 1970, they bought and further developed the Mobile Home Park in Conrad and operated it until their retirement. During the summer of 2007, Hazel began living at Oakview Nursing Home. She enjoyed her time there and appreciated all the wonderful care.

Hazel is survived by her son, Merlyn (Cathy) Koehler of White City, OR; granddaughters Shelly Hespen of Ankeny, IA, and Kiersti (Tyler) Casebeer of White City, OR; grandsons Kye (Marcia) Koehler of Christmas Valley, OR, and Jason (Kara) Koester of Grinnell, IA; ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Hazel in death were her parents, her husband of 52 years, Keith, their daughter, Nancy Lee Koehler Stubbs, eight brothers, and two sisters.

"Keith and Hazel befriended me when I moved to Conrad, Jan. 1962, as a young gal and starting a new business and knowing very few residents. Their daughter, Nancy, was my receptionist at my beauty shop. Keith and Hazel always wore a smile and always happy to see me. Feel my friendship encircled around her family. "
