In loving memory of

Alice Huey Ching Ding
March 16, 1967 - July 4, 2018

"Alice Huey-Ching Ding passed away peacefully on July 4, 2018. She was truly loved and cherished by family and friends, patients and acquaintances. Born in Seoul, Korea to Helen and Chih-Kan Ding, she moved to the United States at a young age of 11. She attended Nathan Hale High School and continued on to the University of Washington where she completed her undergraduate BS degree in Biology (Phi Beta Kappa), obtained a Medical Doctorate, and finished with her residency in Internal Medicine. Briefly, Alice worked in a remote area of Alaska where her love for the outdoors was nurtured. She returned to Seattle and became one of the original hospitalist in the Providence (Swedish) system, providing care to those in need. She served on the Board at the Kin On Nursing Home for many years, and has volunteered her time at the Westside School.
When visiting with Alice, it was evident that she had many activities. Family life constantly kept her busy. Her passion for hiking and the great outdoors with regular excursions was obvious in her sharing. Regular traveling was always on the agenda. She always tried to make time to meet up with friends.
She is survived by her husband Greg Yen, sons Bradley (10) and Miles (9), brother Peter, mother Helen Ding, and many extended relatives.
An open viewing will be available at Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle on Monday, July 9 from 1:00 to 8:00PM. A Celebration of Life ceremony is pending.
Donations may be made to the Allen Institute for Brain Science or the Washington Trails Association.
We all miss you, Alice, but know that you are in a better place."

Through the years, she was always there a mentor and friend as we tracked through the same residency and ended up working at the same hospitalist group, very recently. She brought energy and enthusiasm in the hospital, even on the longest days. What stands out is how vibrant, bright, caring and dedicated she was to her patients as well as her colleagues. Sending healing thoughts and energy for her dear family, including her sons and husband, Greg. She is missed greatly. "
