Forest Elwin Kendell
April 26, 1938 - July 8, 2018

Forest Elwin Kendell, 80, passed away on July 8, 2018 at GRMC in Burlington, IA following a brief illness. He is survived by Bonnie, his wife of 58 years, and 3 children, Darren (Kris), Ginger Brainard (Don), and Darven (Lara), and 6 loving grandchildren, Nicholas and Alyssa Kendell, Adam and Karis Brainard, and Ryan and Jessica Kendell.
Elwin was born April 26, 1938 in Indian Grove, MO to Forest and Violette Kendell. He graduated from high school in Brunswick, MO, and attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO. He transferred to Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville where he met his lifelong love, Bonnie Hayes, whom he married August 23, 1959 at Asbury Methodist Church, Keytesville, MO.
Elwin obtained his master's degree in guidance counseling, and was a guidance counselor for the Burlington Community School District from 1961 to 1996. He was a member of Burlington's First United Methodist Church. Elwin's passion was camping and travelling to the Rockies with his wife and family. He instilled a great love for the beauty and majesty of the mountains in his children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First United Methodist Church. Memories made in the mountains live in our hearts forever.
