MUSCATINE, Iowa - Michael 'Mike' Kent Esmoil, 71, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, July 9, 2018, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Dan Schoepf will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the combined squads of the American Legion Post No 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1565.

Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post No 27.

Michael 'Mike' was born on December 8, 1946, in Muscatine, the son of Lyall and Lenore Hopkins Esmoil. His first marriage was to Linda Coulter on December 23, 1966. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1982. He married Charlotte Reifert on July 3, 1997, in Muscatine.

He was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post No 27 and the NRA.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Kent Feeds retiring in 2001.

Mike loved carpentry work, repairing small engines and had restored a 1941 Case tractor. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandchildren wrestle. He was proud to attend the state wrestling meet this spring and watch his grandson win his second state championship. He was an avid gardener, birdwatcher and enjoyed watching the squirrels as well. He loved his cat, Vern. He truly loved his children and family.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Charlotte Esmoil of Muscatine; his children, Michelle Esmoil of Muscatine, Mark Esmoil and wife, Chari, of West Liberty, Matthew Esmoil and wife, Kathy, of Nichols, Amy Eichelberger and husband, Myron, of Muscatine, and Emily Druhl and husband, Matthew, of Nashua, New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; and two brothers, Orval Esmoil and wife, Judy, of Muscatine, and James Esmoil of Madison, Wisconsin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Linda; one sister, Cheryl Brenneman; and one brother, Ronald Esmoil.
