Marlene D. Cleppe, 84, of Clinton passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the Alverno - Clinton.
A memorial visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 pm, Friday, June 29, 2018 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory. Marlene Dixie Jurgensen was born December 25, 1933 in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Marie (Marriner) Jurgensen. She was a 1951 graduate of Clinton High School and then attended Clinton Community College. She married LeRoy D. Cleppe Jr. on August 26, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa; he preceded her in death on February 3, 2015.
Marlene was a personal manager for J.E. Merit Construction for 2 years, she also worked for Clinton Water Company, Nielsens, and was a nurse's aide for many years at Mercy Hospital. Marlene enjoyed reading and sewing but most of all she enjoyed time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Jo) Cleppe of Davenport, Iowa, Therese (Don) Johnson of Clinton, Bob Cleppe of Tennessee and Lisa (Jeff) Sikkema of Des Moines, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Deborah Cleppe, a son- Donald Cleppe, a grand daughter Chelsea Lynn, six brothers and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place - Memphis, TN 38015.
