David Phelps
November 12, 1944 - June 22, 2018

David L. Phelps, 73, of Camanche, passed away, Friday, June 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be at Noon, Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the Camanche Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery with military honors being conducted by the United States Army and the Clinton AMVETS. Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Delk, Zane Wisor, Marty Schnoor, Richard Kooi, Doug Smithson, and Denny Arnet. Serving as an honorary pallbearer will be Gary Jackson. Visitation will be from 10:00am to the service time at the funeral home.

David LeRoy Phelps was born on November 12, 1944 in Vinton, Iowa, the son of Russell and Evelyn (Manley) Phelps. He was a 1962 graduate of Belle Plaine High School. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam from 1962-1965. He married Mary Jordan Delk on July 20, 1968 in Low Moor.

Dave was employed at Climax Foundry, ADM Clinton Corn, Carstensen Freight Lines and retired from USF Holland after 35 years of being a Teamster truck driver in 2003. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family.

Dave is survived by his wife: Mary of Camanche; his son: Michael (Stephanie) Delk of Perry Grove, Arkansas; his daughter: Shannon (Kevin) Wisor of Schaumburg, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; his brother: Roger (Carolyn) Phelps of Clinton; and two sisters: Marie (James) Sturtz of Clinton and LaVerna O'Neal of Camanche. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Rick and daughter: Bonny.
