Fred A. Weideman
August 31, 1930 - June 30, 2018

Fred A. Weideman, Jr., 87, of Clinton passed away Saturday, June 30, 2018 at his home - Clinton.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 am, Friday July 6, 2018 at Prince of Peace Parish. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors being conducted by the Clinton AMVETS. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Weideman, Ken Weideman, Julius Michel, Joe Weideman, Rodney Jewels, Eric Wilden, Mike Kroemer, Mike Murphy, and Jim Harroun. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes and Crematory.

Fred August Weideman, Jr. was born August 31, 1930 in Elwood, Iowa, the son of Fred A. and Laura (Harp) Weideman, Sr. He attended Elwood High School and joined the Army in 1948 during the Korean War. He served his country until 1951. He married Bernice Michel on August 2, 1954 in Maquoketa, Iowa; this year marked 64 years for them.

Fred worked many different jobs until he found his calling as a painter and started the Weideman Paint Company in 1970, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Mary's since 1958 and then Prince of Peace Parish when it opened. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, telling jokes and traveling. They took many trips most notable an Alaskan Cruise and traveling to Costa Rica and Hawaii. Most of all he loved time spent with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife Bernice Weideman of Clinton; two sons: Kenneth Weideman, Sr. of Davenport and Steve Weideman of Clinton; four grandchildren: Kenneth Weideman, Jr., Thomas Weideman, Mary Weideman and Jennifer Dolph; three great grandchildren: Elizabeth and Chloe Weideman and Kayleigh Rodgers; three siblings: Pauline Webb of Morrison, Georgia Schaver of Morrison, and Alfred Doty of Clinton; one step sister: Evelyn Dodds of Bettendorf, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, three brothers, two sisters, three step-sisters and two step-brothers.
