Carol Ann Hoksbergen
December 9, 1958 - June 18, 2018

Carol Ann (Vander Meyden) Hoksbergen, 59, of Oskaloosa, Iowa, went to be with her Savior on Monday, June 18th at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. She fought a 5-year battle with cancer while maintaining a positive attitude that only God's grace can provide. She was born the second of six children to William and Martha (Pothoven) Vander Meyden on December 9, 1958, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She attended Oskaloosa Christian School and Pella Christian High School where she graduated in 1977. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Dean Hoksbergen, in Oskaloosa on April 7, 1978. She worked at Oskaloosa Home Loan and Horizon Federal Savings Bank and then Mahaska Communications Group where she enjoyed building relationships and taking care of customers.

Carol loved attending her grandchildren's activities, especially coloring with her grandchildren, she enjoyed giving of her time and gifts. She was an active member at Bethel Christian Reformed Church where she attended her whole life, serving in various positions. She was a member of a Family Living group that met together for nearly 40 years for Bible Study and friendship. Carol's deep faith in God supported her in her struggles and ultimately gave her peace.

Her family includes her husband, Dean, and her sons and their families: Matt and Rebecca and grandchildren Eli, Rachel, Emily, and Jacob, and Doug and Christy and grandchildren Lane Anderson and Sage Hoksbergen. She is also survived by her parents William and Martha of Oskaloosa; her brothers and sisters: Sandy and Jerry Hughes of Oskaloosa, Diane Boot, of Lake Worth, FL, Nancy and John Graham of Oskaloosa, Bruce and Michelle Vander Meyden of Oskaloosa, and Brian Vander Meyden of Brooklyn, NY; in addition to many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 22, 2018 at 10:30 am at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Oskaloosa with the Reverend John Jakes officiating. There will be a Family Prayer in the fellowship hall on Friday June 22 at 10:15. Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will begin after 11:00 am on Thursday, June 21 at Bethel Christian Reformed Church with the family present from 4-7 to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Christian Grade School or the MHP Hospice Serenity House. Carol's family would like to whole-heartedly thank her doctors, nurses, and aides that walked with her through her cancer treatments and final days at the Serenity House.
