In loving memory of

Richard Arment
July 19, 1929 - June 23, 2018

Richard Glenn Arment, 88, of Eddyville, died Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa. He was born July 19, 1929, in Smith County, Kansas, the son of Oliver Glenn and Lola Lulu Vibber Arment. He attended school in Marshalltown. He was united in marriage to Henrietta Elizabeth Hauersperger. To this union three children were born Rosalie, Mike, and James. Richard and Henrietta later divorced. Richard took his first semi driving job at the age of 19. In 1948, he hauled a load of cattle from Marshalltown to Chicago. This trip was the beginning of 63-year career in a truck. It is safe to say that anything that could be hauled by semi, Richard had hauled it at one time or another. He traveled well over 3 million miles and had been to the continental 48 states and into Canada. He retired from driving in 2011. He loved everything about trucking, the equipment, the road, and especially that it was part of his heritage, that has now been passed to his son and grandson. He also enjoyed fishing.

His family includes his three children, Rosalie (David) Knight of Cambridge, Mike Arment of Anamosa, and Jim (Diana) Arment of Eddyville; four grandchildren, David Knight, Michael Knight, Dayna Arment, and Jake Arment; two brothers; two sisters; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parent, two brothers, and two sisters.

As was Richard's wish his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
