James N. Howard
October 3, 1951 - July 10, 2018

Muncie-James N. Howard, 66, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Muncie, Indiana on Wednesday, October 3, 1951, the son of Samuel J. and Bernice E. (Hiatt) Howard.
Jim had owned his own construction business and also worked for Hamilton South Eastern Community Schools as a custodian.
He enjoyed gardening and coached The Crush Softball Team.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Paula Howard; daughter, Courtney Duncan; son, Shane (Nysha) Stout; daughter, Stacey Hankins; sister, Janet (Jim) Johnson; A very special granddaughter, Chloe' Duncan, and grandsons, Austin Stout, Brady Stout, Casey Stout, Dylan Stout, James Howard, Quentin Hankins, and Jimmy Neil Hankins; nephews, Jeff (Bonnie) Johnson and Jason (Toyce) Johnson; nieces, Jenny Johnson and Barb (Robert) Ayres; beloved dog, Daryl.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Gladys Howard; sister, Judy (Carlis) Smith; granddaughter, Cassidy Duncan, and a nephew, Brad Forshee.
Services will be Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 West Kilgore Avenue, Muncie, Indiana 47304.
Visitation will be at Elm Ridge Funeral Home Friday, July 13, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Burial will take place immediately following the service at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Melham and Tiffany Pierce, I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospice, and especially Katie Wallace for their care and compassion during Jim's illness.
