Clay Kent Johnson was born on August 3, 1962 in Maquoketa, Iowa, to Henry Eli and Vera Desire (DeMoss) Johnson Sr. He was a 1980 graduate of Midland Community High School, and married Peggy S. Paysen in 1985 in Monmouth, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Clay Jr. and Corey.
Clay first worked for Campbell's in Maquoketa as a mechanic and had also owned and operated Clay's KerrMcGee Gas Station. He then worked as a semi-truck driver for Schneider Trucking Company for over 20 years, and for the past six years for J.B. Hunt Trucking Company.
Clay loved working on vehicles, fishing, riding motorcycles, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, siblings and extended family. He especially loved family gatherings, and pets, "Dexter" his cat, and "Bowser" his dog. His love for his family and others was exemplified even further after his passing as he gave the greatest gift through organ/tissue donation.
