In loving memory of

Lois Jean Webb
December 22, 2017

Lois Jean (Gradeless) Webb, 87, had a wonderful life because she cared about others. She died peacefully at her home, on the morning of Friday, December 22, 2017.The youngest of nine children, Jean was born in the family farmhouse outside Columbia City in 1930. She was a graduate of Larwill High School and Ball State Teachers College where she met her future husband Lee Webb.

For the next 50 years, they built a life of love, hard work, adventure and laughter. This included living and teaching in France and Germany, and traveling across Europe. Eventually the Webbs and their 5 children returned to Indiana (Zionsville, Richmond and Greenwood) for more of the same.

After Lee's retirement as Superintendent of Center Grove Schools, they lived in Egypt, then Singapore, working in schools and travelling the world -often with children and grandchildren joining the adventures.

Jean is survived by her sisters Margaret (Gradeless) Thomas and Lucille (Gradeless) Leffel; as well as her five children: Eric (Sheri), Gary (Ella), Kristina (Steve) Fisher, Marc (Pamela) and Scott (Veronica); and more than 30 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Ruth Gradeless; husband, Lee Webb in 1999; her brothers, Thorrald, Ralph, Earl, Lawrence and Paul Gradeless; and sister, Thelma Gradeless.

The ashes of Jean and Lee will be buried together at St. Matthew's Cemetery, 1460 E. 500 N Columbia City at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018. All are welcome to join the family for a short graveside celebration of life. Local arrangements with DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Dr., Columbia City.
