Augusto "Gus" Ramos Dumaual
February 12, 1940 - July 19, 2018

On July 19th, the morning weather outside was 80 degrees F, partly cloudy with a slight breeze. On this perfect day for golf, Augusto Ramos "Gus" Dumaual passed away at the age of 78 from his battle with cancer. Born in Manila, Philippines in 1940, Gus immigrated to the United States in 1967 to join his wife, Natividad Dumaual, who was living in the city of Indianapolis, Indiana. For a majority of his life, he worked for what was then Indiana Bell and what is now AT&T as an installation technician. He eventually received his US Citizenship along with his wife and son, Arnold Dumaual, in 1972. He retired in 2005 and enjoyed his retirement spending time with his family, friends, and hobbies.

Gus was the true definition of a family man. The primary concern of his life was making his wife, his children, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren happy. He would do anything for them. He was not driven by fame or fortune, he just wanted to provide for his family to the best of his abilities. He was a humble man who never wanted any focus of attention on him and was very amenable to what others wanted.

Gus's second greatest passion was golf. His achievements included playing numerous golf courses around the world and competing in dozens of tournaments. He even made 3 hole-in-ones, two of which were made during golf tournaments. He wanted to play every day, rain or shine, and at any time as long as there was enough sunlight. He was well-known and well-loved by the local golfing community. As an avid sports fan, Gus loved to watch Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts football games, calling his sons to discuss the outcomes good or bad.

There is one special quality that made Gus stand out from most people. There wasn't one person who didn't like Gus - he was friendly, warm-hearted, and genuine. He welcomed you into his home with open arms. At social events, he was the first on the dance floor and first to strike up a conversation with a stranger. He always walked with a big smile on his face. You could sense how content he was with his life. Even when he was in pain and battling cancer, he was more concerned about making sure others were being taken care of. His giving, loving spirit was an example for all.

He was beloved by his family and survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Natividad (Nati) Galasinao Dumaual; his son, Alfred Christopher (AC) Dumaual and his wife, Sara; his daughter, Almira (Mia) Anne Lyst and her husband, James Lyst; his five grandchildren- Sarah Dumaual-Webster, Evin Stewart Dumaual, Seth Anthony Dumaual, Jason Dumaual Lyst and Edward (Eddie) Preston Lyst; and his two great grandchildren, Rena June Dumaual and Vera Joy Dumaual.

His family invites you to join us in celebrating his life at St Luke Catholic Church, 7575 Holliday Drive E, Indianapolis, IN 46260, on Monday, July 23, 2018. There will be a viewing from 10:00-11:30 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am.
