Gerald A. "Jerry" Mucha, age 72, of Lorain, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 24, 2018.
He was born on March 6, 1946 in Lorain where he has lived for most of his life. He is a graduate of Lorain High School and proudly served his country in the United States Navy before being honorably discharged.
Jerry worked as a chemical engineer for BFGoodrich which gave him opportunities to travel all across the world to assist and trouble shoot many issues needing resolution before retiring 16 years ago. He also co-founded Elcor Inc., Elyria, a one stop supply source for a broad range of products from prototype to production requirements. Both Jerry and his wife are long time members of the Church of St. Peter, in Lorain.
Jerry's true love and enjoyment in life was his family, especially his three grandchildren whom he cherished. He enjoyed golfing, cooking, fishing, boating, and playing catch with his grandson, Cassius. Versatile and adept at many things, he often joked himself as a "Jerry of All Trades", yet the "master of none" did not hold truth, as he was too humble to admit that he truly could do it all.
Jerry will be missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Carole J. (nee Mutnansky) Mucha, his children; Gerald "Jerry" (Amy) Mucha, of Los Angeles, CA and Stephanie (Chad) Braley, of Olmsted Twp., and his three adoring grandchildren; Morgan, Cassius, and Benjamin. He is also survived by his sister, Donna Kropf and his brother, Dennis (Donna) Mucha, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Anthony and Hazel (nee Wearsch) Mucha, brothers-in-law, Richard Mutnansky and Bob Kropf.
The family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, 2018, from 4 - 8 pm, in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Prayers will be held on Tuesday, at 9:00 am, also in the funeral center. His memorial Mass will follow, at 9:30 am, at the Catholic Church of St. Peter, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain. Fr. Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Inurnment will follow Mass, in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain, where full military honors will be held by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
