November 19, 1934 - July 26, 2018

Joan D. Ewing, 83 of Fort Dodge, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018 at her home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church, with Msgr. Kevin McCoy officiating, with the family present at church on Tuesday from 9:00 AM till 10:00 AM. A visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.
Joan is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles of Fort Dodge; daughter, Vicki Ewing (Charlie Haynes) of Sachse, TX; son, Patrick Ewing of Humbodt; son, Mark Ewing of Brandon, SD; daughter Rebecca (Mitch) Naeve of Humboldt; 6 grandchildren, Adam Ewing, Mckayla Schievelbein, and Eric Ewing; Miranda Weber and Blake Naeve; Payton Ewing; 3 great grandchildren; and her sister, Alice (Arden) Hanson of Olathe, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Beunice (Nordholm) Carpenter.
Joan Dorothy Carpenter was born November 20, 1934 in Marshalltown, IA. She attended school at St. Ansgar and graduated from high school in Dayton High School in 1951. On April 23, 1954 she was united in marriage to Charles Ewing and the couple established their home in Fort Dodge. Joan had her own tax and bookkeeping business for many years. She was a member of Corpus Christi Church where she sang in the choir. Joan had a love of genealogy and belonged to the Webster County Genealogical Society and the Webster County Historical Society. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids, back yard bird watching, and garage sales. Joan was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles.
