In loving memory of

Sharon A. Googins
May 23, 1946 - July 31, 2018

Sharon A. Googins, 72, of Minnesota City passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Sharon was born on May 23, 1946 in Arcadia, WI to Alphonse and Lillian (Rossel) Schmitt. On March 18, 1967 Sharon married Steve Googins. Sharon and Steve had three daughters. Her life revolved around raising her girls; and taking in and raising multiple other children as well. Anyone that was in need she would help in any way she could; a place to stay- she always made the room, an ear to listen, and a place to do laundry- clean it or air it. Sharon was always the go to person in the family. She helped everyone and was always the secret keeper.
Sharon's passion was people. She obtained a degree in Social Work from Winona State University in 1986. The rest of her working career was spent working in Home Health Care and after retirement a short time at Watkins Inc.
Sharon loved thrift shopping, antiques, enjoyed crafts, completing puzzles, and taking pictures. Her Catholic faith was very important in her life and enjoyed going to church.
Sharon will be deeply missed by her daughters, Stephanie (Jeremy) Berg, Staci Googins, and Shannon (Elliott) Norwood; grandchildren, Violet, Trisha, Savannah, Lewis, Ebony, James III, Constance, Sabrina, Elliott, Malcolm, and Miles Steven; great-grandchildren, Eliyanna, Tristan, Corbin, Campton, Cemise, Kelin, Lewis II, Gianna, Waymon ll, Hezekiah, Adelina and 5 on the way; sister, Luetta (Don) Ellis; and her special family Bonnie Googins, Jeremiah (Alanna) Pelowski, Sarah Googins, Sam Googins, Iysis, Waylan, and Sydney Ashton. And a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends that became her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband Steve; siblings, Dolores, Russel, and Mary; and nephew, Gail Allen.
A pot-luck Celebration of Sharon's life will be held at Farmers Park on Saturday, August 25 from 1pm-6pm. Family and friends are invited to stay for lunch, share memories of Sharon, and listen to some of her favorite music. Hoff Celebration of Life Center - Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
Private family graveside services will be held at a later date.

"The mark Sharron left on this world is that of a star... many not in the spotlight has had that big of impact I think in seeing the responses to her passing. She told me the night (among so much else) I spent an hour alone in the hospital with her the Journey she had traveling around the United States & how when back home the pictures had been erased but another trip was to be had and how a moment was difficult on the trail of tears was due to her health. There will always be a piece to my family's puzzle missing now with her passing but will always carry with me our conversations we shared alone. R.I.P "
