Shirley passed away peacefully in hospice care at home in Englewood, FL., surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Montague, MA, to the late Abe and Minnie Cohen. Her older brother, Stanford Cohen, passed away in Longmeadow, MA, in March, 2018.

Shirley graduated from Classical High School in Springfield and attended the University of Hartford Art School. In 1947, she married George Sogolow and moved to his hometown, Norwich, Conn. where they raised three children. She helped George run the family business, and was active in the Beth Jacob Synagogue.

As the family grew, she worked in Waterford with children with cerebral palsy, and later developed activities and programs for older adults. She moved into a twenty year career in occupational therapy at Norwich Hospital, retiring in 1988. Shirley and George travelled in retirement, visiting and enjoying many friends and family. Following George's death in 2004, Shirley moved to Englewood, FL, where she was an active member in the Englewood Art Center and the Lemon Bay Garden Club. All who knew Shirley were touched by her kindness and warmth, as well as her many artistic skills.
