"I worked with Thom as a fellow bus driver for the last 9 years. Every morning the tap on the shoulder and that smile; sometimes a sarcastic joke to start the day. Hearing Thom on the radio with his trademark "Releasing the Beast!" - I would shake my head & laugh . That wave and a comforting stare as our buses pass on the road, knowing we're going through the same daily grind. I like doing crossword puzzles but know nothing about mythology, so when a clue would come up about a god of this or god of that, I would wait to ask Thom and sure enough, he knew the answer, giving me more information than I needed to know. It did amaze me, his knowledge of the subject. One of the last times we talked, he walked over to my bus and showed me pictures on his phone of these turtles he saw on one of his walks. I just kept thinking, Wow, what a gentle, caring man he really is ? I miss my friend. I think of him and I feel numb and sad but slowly I'm thinking of him and smile. Bobby Spohler"
