COTTAGE GROVE/MADISON/DEFOREST- Jeffrey Benedict passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018.  He was born July 23, 1958, in Milwaukee, and grew up in Janesville, the son of Floyd and Bobbi (Duda) Benedict. He was united in marriage to Michelle Lawrence Benedict on May 20, 1989, in Green Bay. Jeffrey worked as an engineer for the city of Madison. He coached baseball, basketball and football for many schools and leagues around Madison, including: East High School, Kennedy Little League, and DeForest Middle School. Jeffrey was a certified strength and conditioning specialist which helped him to mentor his athletes to the best of their ability. He was a wonderful dad, husband and friend. Jeffrey loved being outdoors, fishing, working out, biking and attending sporting events for his kids. He and his family had many good times and made fond memories in Eagle River where he owned a cabin. Jeffrey is survived by his wife, Michelle; son, Preston; daughter, Nikki; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Dean) Listle and Pam Doney; mother-in-law, Audrie Lawrence; nephews, Tyler Listle and Luke Listle; and life-long friend, Rob (Eve) Tordoff. He was preceded in death by his parents; and father-in-law, Dewey Lawrence. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 12 noon, on Friday, Aug, 10, 2018, with the Rev. Sandra Schieble presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, and also at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
