Dr. George H. Pfaltzgraff
April 22, 1945 - August 12, 2018

Dr. George H. Pfaltzgraff passed away on August 12, 2018 while in Dexter, MI. He resided on his farm outside of Hampton, IA. A retired surgeon, he most recently was the Medical Director for Care Initiatives Hospice in Cedar Falls, IA.

He was born to medical missionaries, Dr Roy E. Pfaltzgraff and Violet (Hackman) Pfaltzgraff, in Garkida, Nigeria on April 22, 1945.

He attended Hillcrest School in Jos, Nigeria and graduated from La Grange High School in La Grange, IN. He continued his education at Manchester College in North Manchester, IN and completed his medical studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA.

George's career as a surgeon took him across the country, from Ohio to Alaska, New Mexico to Wisconsin. He always put his patients' needs first and never passed up an opportunity to learn or teach.

He was married to Allyson (Buffy) Allsop, March 15th, 1986 in New Mexico.

His personal interests were gardening, beekeeping, Studebakers, and working around the farm. George was known for his phenomenal pie making skills. He always had time for his family and enjoyed teaching them to discover and enjoy life.

He is survived by his wife, Allyson (Buffy), daughters Elise (Jason Metcalf), and Emily Rose, son George (fiancée Larissa Bitner), and granddaughter Eleanor. He is also survived by a daughter from a previous marriage, Christine (Richard) Perkins, and granddaughters Abigail, Emma, and Ingrid.
