Hattie P. (Gerdes) LaRue, 77, of Dumont, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018, at her home in Dumont. She was born, March 1, 1941, in Dumont, Iowa, the daughter of George and Rebecca (DeVries) Gerdes.
Hattie was united in marriage to DeWayne Eugene LaRue on November 20, 1959, in Dumont, Iowa. She graduated from LaJames Cosmetology College in Mason City, Iowa. Hattie owned and worked for many hair salons around the Dumont and Allison area. She was a member of the New Hope Parish of the Methodist Church Dumont Center. She enjoyed dancing, singing, playing piano, golfing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Scott LaRue of White City, Oregon, daughter, Robin (Jeff) Luther of St. Michael, Minnesota, son, Steve (Pam) LaRue of Dumont, Iowa, and son, Todd LaRue of Swea City, Iowa. Hattie's grandchildren include Levi of Oxnard, California (Scott), Jennifer Sabetti of Buffalo, Minnesota, Anne Norman of Edina, Minnesota, and Alex Luther of St. Michael, Minnesota (Robin and Jeff), Trysten, Lane, Rebecca, and Robert of Dumont, Iowa (Steve and Pam), six great-grandchildren, Aurora, Carman, Graeme, Claire, Vincent, and Maxwell.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Rebecca Gerdes and husband DeWayne LaRue.
