Vernon C. Brooks
November 9, 1920 - September 8, 2018

Vernon C. Brooks, 97, of Coalville passed away on September 8, 2018, at Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Graveside services will be at 10:00am on Saturday, September 15th, 2018 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge with Military Rites Conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1856 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Followed at 11:00 am by a Celebration of Life gathering at the Community of Christ Church in Coalville.
Vernon is survived by his children, Vernon Brooks Jr., Leah Garratt, Paul Brooks, Blake Brooks, Bonnie Brooks and two step-daughters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles and Goldie (Beasley) Brooks; brothers Donald and Paul; sisters, Dorothy Johnson, Nina Tudor, Vivian Carroll and Donna Hay; his first wife Beverly and second wife Myrle .
Vernon was born November 9, 1920 in Coalville. He graduated from Otho High School where he excelled as the pitcher for the high school team, everyone called him "Pete". He married Beverly Hinton of Fort Dodge and then was drafted into the U. S. Army. After the war he and his family moved to San Bernardino, CA . where he started Brooks Construction Company. Vernon married Myrle Clark of Coalville after Beverly's death and came home to Coalville to live, a place he called "heaven".

"I loved Vernon I was a friend of Bonnie?s from Calvary Chapel Bible School I sang in her wedding He kept in touch with me for many years on Facebook I?m so sorry to hear of his passing But he sure led an incredible life And brought Bonnie who was one of my dearest friends into this world I will miss him"
