Susan Bahr, 76, Carmel, IN, died on September 19, 2018 in Westfield, IN after courageously fighting a 6 year war with ovarian cancer. She was born August 31, 1942 in Fort Wayne, IN to Howard and Jean High. She graduated from North Side High School, Ft. Wayne and attended Taylor University. Sue married her high school sweetheart, Bob Bahr, in 1960. Sue was Director of Administration at Benicorp Insurance Company and Human Resources Director at Continental Office Environments. Sue was a 22 year member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and a proud "back row" 2nd alto in the Chancel Choir. She was a 57 year member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, holding every executive office and chairing various committees.
Sue was a fan of all levels of football: High School, College and Professional, but especially wherever her son and grandson played. She had a wicked sense of humor, enjoyed puns, and laughed a lot. She was a straight shooter and called 'em as she saw 'em. Sue loved music, calla lilies, reading, traveling, good food, an occasional Tanqueray gin and tonic and mostly her family and friends deeply.
Sue was preceded in death by her sister, Lynda High in 2006, husband, Bob Bahr in 2009, and their son, Jim Bahr in 2010. Sue is survived by her daughter Jennifer Gilchrist; son-in-law, Alex Frigge, and 3 grandchildren: AJ Gilchrist, Ali Gilchrist and Nathan Frigge. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Margaret Coleman; niece, Cheryl Dickman; nephews, Rick and David Coleman; stepbrothers, Steven and David Lloyd; stepsister, Janet Markley and Sue's dearest friend, Mary Fran Willis.
Special thanks for continued support, care and love to Reverend Marsha Hutchinson, Dick and Carol Tully, Linda Hartman, Mary Sumner, Mary Fran Willis, her PBO sorority sisters, Chancel Choir family, "Sue's Sustainers" and Dr. Birhiray and nurses. Her final request is that in her memory, a random act of kindness be done for someone else. "I was friends with Sue from high school We reconnected when she stayed with us for 3 days for our 50th class reunion. She was the same positive, lively, upfront girl I remembered. We talked by phone and met a couple of times for lunch. Even though she had some very difficult experiences in her life she focused on her daughter and grandchildren. I could tell they were the light of her life. She was a great support for me when I was diagnosed and we commiserated together. We seemed to both feel better after we talked and Sue didn't complain. She was matter of fact and that is one thing I liked about her. We are both realists. That last phone call about 2 weeks before she passed, I could tell she was different. She seemed worn out. Still, when I opened the Fort Wayne paper I was really taken aback that she passed. I needn't tell you how much I respected her......her faith, positive outlook, her sense of humor and her love of her family got her through so much. She will be missed. Marla (Kern) Haberstock"

"Such a strong, but caring lady. She would join us for dinner whenever she could. We worked together at Continental. I?m Barb Baker and Jennifer McCotter, Jennifer Hobbs, Amanda Manley, accompanied by her 2girls, and Rachel Jackson and more. She never complained and always kept up her hope. A lovely person who could always find time to listen when you needed to talk. I do smile when I think of her and her reunion with Bob and her son. Rest In Peace Ava Shalom as we way."
