Robert John Allen,

89, of Indianapolis, departed this life Wednesday, October 3, 2018. He was born December 16, 1928 in Rochester, NY to the late Robert John and Lorraine Allen. Robert was a graduate of Shortridge High School.
Robert was a longtime and dedicated sales associate for Tom O'Brien Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge from 1965 to 2005. The "Robert J. Allen Sales Award," was established in his honor for recognizing the top sales professional each year for the family of Tom O'Brien Dealerships.
He was an avid sports' fan. He was a bat boy in Indianapolis, Indiana (Bush Stadium 50 Year Bat Boy Award) from 1944 to 1945, played professional baseball in Kentucky and Florida from 1950 to 1953, played and managed semi-pro baseball in Indianapolis (Southside Saints) from 1953 to 1963, and was an avid bowler from 1955 to 2005, including being the Indiana State Champion in 1986.
Robert is survived by three children, Vickie Poling (Inlet Beach, Florida) Doreen York (Indianapolis, Indiana), Robert Allen (Booneville, Indiana); three step-children, Rick Geartner (Indianapolis, Indiana), Rod Geartner (Key West, Florida), and Robert Geartner (Panama City, Florida); sister, June Cotton (Indianapolis, Indiana).
Visitation for Robert will begin at 11:30 am on Saturday, October 13th and conclude at time of services at 12:00 pm in Leppert Mortuary - Nora Chapel. Interment follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
