Eldon LuVerne Martini
February 28, 1930 - October 5, 2018

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Emmetsburg. Burial is in St. John's Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg.

Eldon Luverne Martini was born February 28, 1930 in Cylinder, Iowa, the son of William and Lullie (Houck) Martini. He attended the country school through 8th grade and then attended Emmetsburg High School, where he excelled in track, basketball and football, graduating in 1949.

Eldon was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Carroll on August 21, 1950, and to this union, six children were born.

Eldon was employed at Quaker Oats in Emmetsburg, where he worked for the next 16 years. He then farmed for 14 years before going to work for Midwest Limestone and Martin Marietta.

Eldon enjoyed raising cows, gardening, sports and using his carpentry skills.

Eldon suffered a paralyzing stroke in June of 2007. On Friday, October 5, 2018, Eldon passed away at Parc Hall in Emmetsburg.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 68 years, Patricia; children: Francis (Sheila) of Grapevine, TX, Patrick (Peggy) of Emmetsburg, IA, Marian Rosacker of Ruthven, IA, William (Barbara) of Eyota, MN, Carolyn Torres of Costa Mesa, CA and Joseph (Beth) of North Richland Hills, TX; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and his sister, Ilene Fandel

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters, his son-in-law and two great-grandsons.
