Lois Herr

Lois Arleene Herr, age 75, of Centerville passed peacefully Tuesday, November 6, 2007 in her home. Lois was born November 17, 1931 the daughter of Ernest and Marie Brockert of Fruitland, Iowa. Prior to marriage she taught primary grades in a rural school in Letts, Iowa. Lois was married to Charles Herr on Christmas Eve 1953 in Muscatine, Iowa. She worked at McGraw Edison, a cookie factory and a button factory. Lois loved to cook and bake and she made "the best noodles in the world". She spent hours working on jig saw puzzles and she had a green thumb and could make anything grow. Most importantly, she loved being a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.

Lois is survived by her husband, Charles Herr of Centerville, Iowa, a son, Kurt (Diane) Herr of Centerville, Iowa and two step-daughters, Linda (Roger) Hadley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Diann Herr of Centerville, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Kurt (Ricci) Herr Jr. of Centerville, Iowa, Courtney (Greg) Faber of Davenport, Iowa, Kelly (Michael) Bohning of Olathe, Kansas, Jason (Amy) Hadley of Scottsdale, Arizona, Jamie Lewellen of Centerville, Iowa and Dawn (Dave) Graber of Ames, Iowa; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille (Larry) LaRue and Evelyn Helm both of Fruitland, Iowa; five brothers, Jim (Karen) Brockert of Illinois City, Illinois, Charlie (Nadine) Brockert, Dave (Judy) Brockert, Tom (Linda) Brockert, and Phil (Ruth Ann) Brockert all of Muscatine, Iowa. Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Marie Brockert; three sisters, Marian Stovers, Pauline Harris and Dorothy Strauss and a grand-daughter Heather Dawn Herr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, November 9, 2007 at the Thomas Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Howard Luscan officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Island Cemetery in Fruitland, Iowa at approximately 3 PM with Reverend Howell officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 AM till 11 AM prior to the service on Friday. A memorial has been established in lieu of flowers and may be left at or mailed to the Thomas Lange Funeral Home, 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
