Helen Louise Cleaver, age 82 of Unionville, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.

Helen was born March 4, 1926, the daughter of Albert Edward and Ida (Brinkley) Gray in Newton, Iowa. She married Garner Cleaver November 6, 1947 in Williamsburg, Virginia. Helen was a Home Health Care Aide for the Appanoose Community Care Services for 26 years. During this time she provided so much love and support for the families she served. Helen was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed cooking but her passion was flowers and gardening. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Unionville Methodist Church.

Helen is survived by her husband, Garner; children, Paula Jones of Centerville, Iowa, Sharon Cleaver of Unionville, Iowa John (Claire) Cleaver of Centerville, Iowa and Jana (Mark) Belloma of Centerville, Iowa; grandchildren, Amy (James) Brown, Kelli (Joe) Eickhoff, Kara Jones, Jennifer (Jeremy) Long, Melissa (Mike) Thomsen, Nicole (James) Lange, Emily Jones, Jamie (Randy) McDanolds, Kim Cleaver, Sarah Belloma, and Jake Belloma; great grandchildren, Garrett Brown, Logan Brown, Jason Eckhoff, Lauren Long, Luke Long and Ryan McDanolds; niece, Cathy Anderson; and nephew, Gary and Dan Cleaver. She was preceded in death by her parents; a half sister, Margaret; and two half brothers, Warren and Howard.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, January 28, 2008 at the Lange Funeral Home with Pastor Kay Singley officiating. Burial will follow at the Eaton Cemetery in Unionville, Iowa. A visitation will be held Tuesday at the funeral home with family present from 6-8 PM. A memorial has been established to the Appanoose County Care Services, Mercy Hospice, or Unionville Methodist Church and may be left at or mailed to the Lange Funeral Home 1900 S. 18th St., Centerville, Iowa 52544.
