Theresa A. Buchanan, age 87, of Council Bluffs, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Heritage Pointe in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Theresa was born August 8, 1931 in Council Bluffs to the late Milford and Esther (Rupenkamp) Youngs. She was a graduate of McMullen Elementary and Thomas Jefferson High School. Theresa was employed by Mutual of Omaha for 39 years as a supervisor. She was united into marriage to John T. Buchanan in 1951. They were blessed with four children. Theresa was a life-long member of Saint John Lutheran Church; volunteer at Jennie Edmondson Hospital and Meals-on-Wheels. Her hobbies were gardening (she loved daisies), walking, and traveling to see her children around the country. Theresa spent time after retirement at the Zoo, which was a favorite place from childhood. In addition to her parents, Theresa was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2010; son, David in 1986; brother, Vernon Youngs and sister, Eva Rice. Theresa is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne Buchanan and Richard Harms, Nancy and David Roshone, Susan and Warren Kortz; 11 grandchildren, Eric (Shannon) Nuno, Frank (Lisa) Nuno, David (Dustan) Vallinch, Kellie (Will) Solomon, Anna (Kent) Peterson, Chad (Sally) Buchanan, Stephanie (Ian) Jones, Shannon (Peter) Fender, Michael, Gabriel and Julia Kortz, 16 great grandchildren; sister, Gladys Pedersen; nieces and nephews.
