Michael John Horn
August 8, 1956 - October 16, 2018

Michael John Horn, MD, MMM, age 62, passed away October 16, 2018. He was born in Council Bluffs on August 8, 1956. Michael's work endeavors included not only running his own successful pathology practice, but also serving as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at St. Francis Medical Center of Grand Island, and later as the Plan Medical Director for United Healthcare, Nebraska Health Plan. Michael also served a term as the President of the Nebraska Medical Association. Besides his career and his family, Michael also enjoyed motorcycle riding, including two solo trips across the USA and a ride across New Zealand. Michael also enjoyed horseback riding while 'dude ranching' in the Tetons annually for many years. Vacations with his family in the Okoboji area also happened frequently. Mike even jumped out of perfectly good airplanes, more than once. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Horn. Survivors include his sons, Dr. Adam Horn (Stephanie) of Hastings, Nebraska and Evan Horn of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter, Elyse Horn of Omaha; 3 grandchildren Leo, Seraphina, and Henry; former spouse, Shari Horn of Grand Island; mother, Rosemary Horn of Omaha; brothers, Richard Horn (Terrilyn Quick) of La Vista, Nebraska, and Brian Horn (Anita) of Bellevue, Nebraska; numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
