Evelyn M Hammon
January 26, 1921 - October 25, 2018

Evelyn Hammon, 97, of Port Charlotte, FL passed away October 25, 2018.

She was born in Trenton, NY on January 26, 1921 to the late Chester and Marion Webb.

Evelyn graduated from Holland Patent High School and received a diploma as a beautician. Shortly after, she opened up her own beauty shop in Boonville, NY and ran her business until retirement.

She married the love of her life, John M. Hammon, on May 24, 1941 and were together for a total of 58 years until his passing.

She and her family lived on a dairy farm for many years.

She was a proud member of Ladies Home Bureau and had a passion for art, travel, dancing, reading, camping and biking.

She is survived by her daughter, Doris Hammon Barney; son, Gordon M. Hammon; grandchildren, Kim Sutkowski, Allen Barney, Gail Hemple, Richard Hammon and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 29 at 2pm at Port Charlotte United Methodist Church.

"I will always remember the time you, your Mom and your Dad stopped in to visit us years ago in the trailer park. Your Dad was collecting empty cans along the road and you told him to be careful that snakes could be in there. They also stopped one time when you weren't with them. They were such a nice couple. Your Mom was such a sweet person. I know you will miss her dearly as will I. "
