Arby Ray Holbrooks met his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. He passed away at home after a brief illness. There will be no visitation at the funeral home, but the family invites everyone to join them for lunch and visitation at the Robert Lee Baptist Church immediately following the services on Friday. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, October 26, 2018 in Robert Lee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
Arby was born in Pumphrey, Texas on November 11, 1936 to Wilson "Caleb" Holbrooks and Trudie Drake Holbrooks. In 1955 he graduated from Winters High School. He attended Texas A&M University and served in the National Guard. He married Patsy Lynn Lacy Holbrooks on June 27, 1959 and in 1973 they had a son, Todd. Arby worked several jobs in his life. He retired after working and then co-owning BesTex. He loved farming and did that on the side for most of his life. He could most recently be found on his new riding lawn mower tending to his yard. Arby was a gentle soul who loved the Lord, his family and his country.
He was preceded in death by his father Caleb, his mother, Trudie and brother Weldon Holbrooks.
He is survived by his wife Lynn, son Todd and wife Marlo, and granddaughters Paige Diane and Jenna Claire. His nieces Debbie Prichard (Bobby), Jill Loar (Scott) and Tammy Baker (Ken.) His sister-in-law, Peggy Holbrooks, joined him in heaven on the same day.
